Wedge Resection

A wedge resection is a minor surgical procedure commonly used to treat an ingrown toenail, particularly when the nail is causing ongoing pain, inflammation or recurrent infection.

The procedure involves removing the affected edge of the toenail and may include treatment of the nail root to help prevent that section of the nail from growing back. Your doctor will assess the area and discuss whether wedge resection is appropriate for you.
